Berman was a co-founder of the Protein Data Bank archive that was launched in 1971 and has been committed to the continued development and maintenance of this community resource. She currently serves as Director Emerita of the RCSB PDB, is Distinguished Professor Emerita of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and an Adjunct Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the PDB, Nature Methods and Nature Structural & Molecular Biology created a special PDB-focused collection.
